Catechesis of the Good
Shepherd Levels 1 – 3
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a
Montessori approach to the Christian Formation of children with the primary aim
of guiding the child into a personal relationship with Christ. Children
gather in the “Atrium”, a sacred space set apart for prayer and meditation.
Through presentation of hands-on materials by the Catechist, children learn
about their Faith as Anglicans, the Covenant, Biblical History, the Life of
Jesus, Parables of the Kingdom of God, the Liturgy, the Liturgical Year, the
Sacraments, and the Scriptures. This approach is progressive with materials
presented over the course of several years.

Journey to
Adulthood – J2A
Journey to Adulthood is an
innovative spiritual formation program for young people 13 years old and older.
The program is designed around four key areas: Self, Sexuality/Gender,
Spirituality and Society. Bringing scripture, tradition and reason together with
experience, this program gives young people the tools and skills necessary for
their journey into adulthood.
The first section of material is based on
“The Celebration of the Gift of Manhood and Womanhood” and “The Gift of Creative
Energy.” In the second section, study becomes more serious and life skills are a
focus. Confirmation comes as the youth become mature enough to want to make an
adult affirmation of their faith. Following confirmation ways to live into the
Baptismal Covenant are explored. The group meets upstairs in the room with the
yellow door with Canon Steven Roberts and David Corkern as leaders.
Adult Forum
All adults are invited to attend the
Adult Forum in the Martin Room beginning at 9am. Topics vary and cover many
areas including: Church History, Liturgy, Prayer & Spirituality and Scripture.
Leaders include clergy and laity.
Father Bill Morris will begin September
17 with a series on Conflict Resolution in the Anglican Communion: “Let’s You
and Him Fight” Conflict is not entirely negative. It also helps form the
Church and clarify her mission. There are governmental ways for dealing with
conflict, but theological debate is often decisive. In December, Linda Nelson,
Director of Advent House, will lead a series on Personality Type and Prayer.
Participants will discover how their personality can influence the effectiveness
of different types of prayer.
